UK Vaccine Taskforce Chair Says Early COVID-19 Vaccines May Be Imperfect

“The first generation of vaccines is likely to be imperfect, and we should be prepared that they might not prevent infection but rather reduce symptoms, and, even then, might not work for everyone or for long,” she added.

Bingham wrote that the Vaccine Taskforce recognises that “many, and possibly all, of these vaccines could fail”, adding the focus has been on vaccines that are expected to elicit immune responses in the population older than 65 years.

She said that the global manufacturing capacity for vaccines is vastly inadequate for the billions of doses that are needed and that the United Kingdom’s manufacturing capability to date has been “equally scarce”.

Earlier on Tuesday, a study by scientists at Imperial College London found that antibodies against the novel coronavirus declined rapidly in the British population during the summer, suggesting protection after infection may not be long lasting and raising the prospect of waning immunity in the community.

The Telegraph newspaper reported that the British government is working on the assumption that the second wave of coronavirus will be more deadly than the first.

That’s true. if we rush things it’ll be imperfect. It’s sad but that’s the reality. We cannot rush things when it comes to COVID – 19. Many people are already infected and we must take it seriously because it is no joke. We must prevent going outside while the COVID – 19 is on process.

I believe that finding the right vaccine without side effects will take a lot of time. These clinical trials will keep on going until we can produce the perfect vaccine for those who are affected by Covid.

Vaccines save millions of lives each year. Vaccines work by training and preparing the body’s natural defences — the immune system— to recognize and fight off the viruses and bacteria they target. If the body is exposed to those disease-causing germs later, the body is immediately ready to destroy them, preventing illness.

This blog is very useful and informative! especially this pandemic times.. although we may not have vaccine yet available and it will took time to have a real no any harmful effect vaccine in our body, We should follow the precautionary safety measures to prevent covid-19 infection like wearing mask, wash your hands, take at least 1m distance to anybody and use alcohol everytime you touch anything and most importantly if it is not necessary to go outside then you should stay home.

My body sustained many damage over the years, broke bones, bled from injuries but survived and still kicking yet the injection terrifies me. We can’t even get our flu vaccines right this year or keep up with the demand of them… so a vaccine for covid-19 is not coming anytime soon realistically speaking. The FDA and CDC directors both said that a safe and effective limited supply even of a covid-19 vaccine best case scenario would be during late spring or summer 2021.

Vaccines are really very important to stop covid 19. As the article says, the latest vaccines will be imperfect. So this blog or article is really very informative. Antibodies are also developed and I hope this pandemic comes to an end

I wonder how Wuhan in China is already normal without having the vaccine. And now they just want to try the Covid vaccine in other countries. IS they hiding something? Many refuse to receive the vaccine. So I think it should be voluntary to get vaccinated.

No one is safe until we are all safe. Pandemic viruses do not respect national borders,
